Come in

Come up says the Spirit to the soul, come up!

Where to? Asks the soul to the Spirit.

Generally there is no answer.

The soul must follow blindly, trustingly, lovingly.

Following the fragrance of the Spirit,

sometimes a whiff is enough for the Soul.

It must pant for the Spirit. It must watch and wait.

It will grow and scale the heights of humility;

The joys of holiness.

In solitude.

Come up says the Spirit to the soul, come up!

Where to? Asks the satiated soul to the Spirit.

Come up to the Upper Room!

The soul is lost in mystery for the reply.

The soul is immersed in joy as it looks up the steps.

The soul is lost in wonder as it climbs upstairs.

Come and sit and see but speak not, says the Spirit to the Soul.

The soul obeys.

There is bread and wine and water.

There is a Man bent down in washing feet.

Feet of all shapes and sizes.

Feet of the young and the old.

Feet refreshed and renewed to be of service

To wash more feet.

The Man of the Upper Room

Bent down and almost broken

Is washing the feet

Is weaving a Body.

He nods at the Spirit and offers his hand to the Soul.

Today in the Upper Room.
